To qualify for an Ohio Medical License, applicants must:
Hold an MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Complete at least one year of ACGME/AOA-accredited postgraduate training (IMGs require 2 years).
Pass all required exams: USMLE, COMLEX, or equivalent.
Have passed all licensing exams within 10 years, unless board certified.
Possess good moral character with no disqualifying disciplinary history.
Submit to a criminal background check (BCI/FBI).
Create an account on the Ohio License Center.
Complete the online application and pay the required fee.

Postgraduate training verification
Exam scores (USMLE/COMLEX)
ECFMG certification (if applicable)
Employment history
Photo and ID documents
Complete the BCI & FBI fingerprinting.
Respond to any Board inquiries or requests for additional documentation.
Wait for the Board’s licensing decision.
Ohio medical licenses renew every 2 years and require:
50 CME hours per cycle
At least 1 hour on Ohio laws and rules
Renewal application and fee submission
